Sneyd Park
This front garden is the main and only garden for the property and as such has to work hard to be a space for all things - outdoor dining, a space to sit and relax, a place to play in, as well as providing a bin-store area, and an accessible second path to the house. As a main garden at the front it also needed the privacy and this was a paramount concern. A relatively busy road means there is a degree of traffic and footfall.
A new composite deck directly off the kitchen provides a lovely dining terrace, with space for a table to seat 6- 8 people. This steps down on to a new limestone terrace with room for two large sofas and a low table, bordered on three sides by planting beds with new perennials and shrubs.
A resin-bound path with limestone stepping stones runs from the driveway to the deck steps, giving a smooth transition from the garden to the house.
A new wooden bin-store is set into the garden so that the doors open from the driveway side, surrounded by new evergreen hedging to help keep it out of one’s eye-line. Railings by a local blacksmith have been installed to give an added feeling of security, while an existing laurel hedge to the front boundary makes the garden feel established and private.
