Camberwell Family Garden

The clients were a busy family of five, plus Dash the dog made six. The brief was to give them all a space to relax and play in.

They already had a dining area directly by the house, so we concentrated on making the seating area a place which felt a little more private and enveloping.

This was a long but relatively narrow garden, which felt a little overlooked previously.

The deck provides a perfect place to to sit, surrounded on three sides with tall grasses, with a pergola with hanging chairs and planting to give a feeling of privacy from the houses.

A long lawn with evergreen hedging either side gives quite a grand feeling to the house, as well as a football pitch for the children, whilst a border of drought tolerant planting softens the steps down to the house itself.

At the back of the garden, the clients had already begun a small fruit and veg area with raised beds. The design complimented this with some fruit cordons, whilst rejigging the stepping stones to give the path way through to the shed at the back a little more balance.
