New design job for a long sunny garden in Camberwell. The site was formerly a convent and had an orchard attached but has been converted beautifully into bespoke homes. Rather charmingly, there are garden gates which allow neighbourly access between the plots. The fact that the gardens are not totally fenced in on both sides also give the gardens a feeling of open space and community.
The family of five enjoy the outside space and want to be able to maximise it’s use, with a long lawn at one end and a vegetable plot at the other and a pergola walkway with hanging hammocks and a ‘floating’ deck in between on which to enjoy the sun and relax.
The garden has now been completed and is awaiting planting. The owners would like a hot scheme using yellows and oranges and I’m including a few touches of hot pink here and there as well. The pergola will be covered with scented climbers and the deck is to be surrounded with grasses and sunshine loving perennials.
