This project was for a busy creative couple working in media. They were having a kitchen extension built with a polished concrete floor and wanted to extend this feeling/material out to the garden to create a fairly seamless merging of outside and in. To this end we chose a light grey sandstone and this worked well with the dark grey paint the couple favoured for their woodwork inside the house.
They also enjoy entertaining and partying so, to give them maximum space in order to this, a decked area was installed at the back with seating all the way around. With a busy life style and two young children, easy maintenance planting was the order of the day – so a simple backdrop of box hedging and flowering evergreen climbers, softened in the Spring by tulip bulbs and in the Summer by pink and white roses, was all that was required.
In addition to the garden I also designed the garden gate and commissioned the joinery. The gate mirrors the church window behind.
