The clients wanted to keep the overall structure of the garden but required the area to be brightened and softened with planting.
They also required a space for the children to play in but at the same time wanted a garden in which they could relax and entertain. The large deck opened off the kitchen with bi-fold doors and wrapped round the area in an L shape – it provides plenty of room for outside dining.
The raised bed gave the area a little lift in terms of height in the garden and the planting was simple, with a limited palette of whites and blues to reflect the colours in the house. The fence was painted a light colour to brighten the space and to provide a backdrop for the evergreen climbers and roses.
The 3 seater wooden bench was under lit, and this combined with deck lights and the uplighter on the tree provides enough lighting for evening entertaining.
